Credo AI 🤖
Problem
Credo AI’s governance product was put together without much design guidance. As the company’s user base scales exponentially, how can we transform a painful AI registry process into a seamless user experience?

Creating a new foundation
Old
The existing platform UI (right) was built on MUI without any documentation, design files, etc. Users experienced issues with finding content and understanding where to take the “next step”.
New
Consistency, discoverability, and task progress are all areas I wanted to address in the first Credo AI design system and subsequent redesign (left). We received overwhelmingly positive feedback after launching the “UX refresh” in January 2025.
Oppurtunities for automation
To register a use case, Credo AI requires users to enter in data in three seperate places - Metadata, Questionnaire, and Associations.
This data could be used to trigger the addition of governance artifacts; however, they lacked any means to communicate with each other. Meaning, we were asking users to often enter duplicate information multiple times.
Automations framework
Setting up a modified RAG architecture that could provide suggested inputs for other use case fields was the first step towards improving the registration process; however, not fully impactful on its own.
Eliminate extra steps
Step 1
Using AI to suggest associations (right) solved the first source of friction for non-technical users - what are apps, models, and vendors, and what should I add to my AI system.
Step 3
Finish the company-mandated questionnaire (right). The longest in most intensive step has now been shortened considerably by using the data gained through associations + description + metadata.
Note: We are not using AI to generate content or make selections. Only to mark questions configured to be satisfied by elements such as model status and metadata.
Step 2
Information saved in associations, or the title/description fields can then be used to pre-populate the metadata fields for the AI system (left).
In conclusion..
I joined Credo AI as a systems designer in 2024, but within a month, I was tasked with redesigning the platform and leading the product design process for the majority of new initiatives.
Without any design documentation or process in place, this was the first time I was challenged to build design from the ground up for a product that had been on the market for several years.
There is a lot more we can do, but within a year, I am proud that my relentless attention to detail and determination to improve the product has already made last year’s Credo AI feel unrecognizable.
